The community development corporation is organized and shall be exclusively operated as a not-for-profit community development corporation for charitable, benevolent, religious, scientific, employment, housing and educational purposes.

The purposes this Community Development corporation is to support and encourage social, human, health care services, employment, housing and faith based ministry by providing programs or activities and/or grants to Martin Luther King Jr. Community Services of Illinois affiliates organizations that are exempt from Federal income tax under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954, as amended (or the corresponding provision of any future United States Internal Revenue Law). The Community development corporation further has the authority with its own staff to establish and operate the programs mentioned above including but not limited to purchasing, rehabilitating, renting, and/or selling residences to low and moderate income persons/families.
